Job summary

Briggs Equipment is hiring a Senior HGV Mechanic in Dublin. The role involves servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy goods vehicles, with responsibilities spanning mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

You will diagnose issues, perform inspections, and handle essential paperwork, while operating plant machinery as needed. The ideal candidate has proven mechanic or plant fitter experience, a relevant technical degree or apprenticeship, and a valid driver's license with Safe Pass.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a mechanic, plant fitter, or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in vehicles and equipment.
  • A technical degree, certification in mechanics, or an apprenticeship (e.g. Motor Mechanic).
  • A valid, clean driver's license is a basic requirement.
  • A valid Safe Pass card is often mandatory for sites/public roads.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine servicing, maintenance and complex repairs on HGVs, including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot to ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Conduct daily and scheduled vehicle and equipment inspections.
  • Complete necessary paperwork: daily defect reports, maintenance logs, and work progress reports.
  • Operate road sweepers or other plant machinery for testing or tasks.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and relevant Acts/Codes of Practice.
  • Work independently or as part of a team and communicate with managers and operatives.

Role: Senior HGV Mechanic
Location: Dublin
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Permanent

In this role you will be:
  • Performing routine servicing, maintenance, and complex repairs on HGV's, which includes working on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to ensure proper functioning and safety of all equipment.
  • Conducting daily and scheduled vehicle and equipment inspections.
  • Completing necessary paperwork, including daily vehicle defect reports, maintenance logs, and work progress reports.
  • Operating road sweepers or other plant machinery as required for testing or specific tasks.
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations and ensuring all work is carried out to comply with relevant Acts of Parliament and Codes of Practice.
  • Working independently or as part of a team, and effectively communicating with managers and other operatives.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are essential.
