AtkinsRéalis, one of the world’s leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland, is seeking a Senior Health and Safety Consultant to join our Health & Safety Consulting team due to ongoing growth and project pipeline. Our team delivers high-quality safety advisory services, particularly fulfilling the duties of PSDP, across various markets including Buildings, Water, Aviation, Energy, Transportation, and Rail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfilling the duties of the PSDP as outlined in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
  • Review of designs and designer risk assessments for compliance with H&S legislation.
  • Attending design coordination meetings, site, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Coordinating residual hazards and risks.
  • Providing competent advice to clients and designers for compliance with legislation and best practices.
  • Offering safety support to internal and external teams for projects of varying scale and complexity.
  • Managing contractor safety and reviewing contractor safety documentation.
  • Managing dedicated projects, including financial aspects.
  • Providing general health and safety consultancy services to clients.
  • Supporting project bids with health and safety expertise.
  • Providing technical support in design safety, including coordination of design safety.
  • Developing existing and new clients as part of our ‘win work’ strategy.
  • Applying quality assurance and environmental management principles in line with organizational policies.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of our safety culture and key safety programs.

Skills and Experience:

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of safety in design and construction safety.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in bid preparation and health & safety requirements.
  • Experience in developing and improving safety policies, culture, and systems.
  • Proficient report writing, good time management, and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel within Ireland.
  • Relevant Health and Safety Degree/Diploma qualifying for IOSH membership or Engineering Degree recognized by Engineers Ireland with post-qualification safety training.
  • Attendance at Engineers Ireland/ACEI PSDP CPD training.
  • Chartered member of IOSH or Chartered Engineer.
