Job summary

eir business talent is seeking a Senior GCP DevOps Engineer for a Dublin-based client to design, implement and operate secure cloud platforms on Google Cloud Platform.

You will lead CI/CD, GitOps, Terraform automation, large-scale GKE environments, SRE practices, incident management and governance, while mentoring engineers and aligning with banking, GDPR and enterprise security requirements. Hybrid Dublin.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in enterprise cloud platform engineering, DevOps or SRE roles.
• Hands-on with GCP services: GKE, Cloud Build, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, IAM, Security.
• Expert Terraform experience with modules and remote-state governance.
• Strong Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and service-mesh (Istio) skills.
• CI/CD and GitOps using Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or Argo CD.
• Python, Shell scripting, YAML and REST APIs proficiency.
• Experience with cloud monitoring and OpenTelemetry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure, scalable GCP platforms with multi-region DR and HA.
• Lead cloud migration and modernisation, define platform standards and governance.
• Establish and govern CI/CD, GitOps, environment automation, and deployment strategies.
• Automate infra provisioning with Terraform, governance and policy as code.

• Implement SRE with SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, logging, alerting and observability.
• Lead incident and problem management and root-cause analysis for reliability.
• Embed DevSecOps controls, IAM, secrets management and vulnerability handling.
• Ensure alignment with banking, GDPR and enterprise security requirements.

Senior GCP DevOps Engineer

Location - Dublin - Hybrid

Type - 6+ months Contract - highly extendable

The Role

As a Senior GCP DevOps Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, automation and operational excellence of cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud Platform. You will help drive cloud transformation, establish DevSecOps standards, and enable secure, resilient and highly available enterprise platforms for a regulated financial-services environment.

Your responsibilities:

• Design and implement secure, scalable and highly available GCP platforms, including multi-region disaster recovery and high-availability solutions.
• Lead cloud migration and modernisation initiatives, defining reusable platform standards, infrastructure blueprints and governance patterns.
• Establish and govern CI/CD, GitOps, environment automation, release automation and deployment strategies.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning through Terraform, reusable modules, remote-state governance and policy as code.
• Design and manage large-scale GKE environments, including container security, networking, scalability, performance and operational standards.
• Implement SRE practices using SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, supported by enterprise monitoring, logging, alerting and observability.
• Lead incident management, problem management and root-cause analysis, improving reliability and operational efficiency through automation.
• Embed DevSecOps controls, IAM, privileged access, secrets management and vulnerability management across the delivery lifecycle.
• Ensure alignment with banking, GDPR and enterprise security requirements.
• Mentor engineers, collaborate with architects, security, risk and operations teams, and provide technical governance and design assurance.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

• 7-10+ years of relevant experience in enterprise cloud platform engineering, DevOps or SRE roles.
• Deep hands-on expertise in GCP services including GKE, Cloud Build, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, VPC, IAM, Secret Manager, Cloud Operations, Load Balancing, Pub/Sub, BigQuery and Cloud SQL.
• Expert-level Terraform experience, including reusable modules, remote-state management, governance and policy as code.
• Strong Kubernetes, Docker and Helm expertise, with service-mesh experience such as Istio.
• Hands-on CI/CD and GitOps experience using Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD and/or Argo CD.
• Proficiency in Python, shell scripting, YAML and REST APIs.
• Experience with Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security, IAM, privileged access, vulnerability management and secrets management.
• Experience delivering secure, resilient platforms in regulated enterprise environments.
• Strong stakeholder management, technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

• Experience in financial services, investment banking, capital markets, regulatory reporting, compliance or risk platforms.
• Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Google Associate Cloud Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator or HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification.
• AWS or Azure certification as an additional advantage.

Candidates should hold appropriate RTWs for Ireland i.e. Stamp1G Dependant, Stamp 4, Irish/British/EU passport.
