Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building scalable, customer-facing web applications.
• Experience designing, consuming and integrating RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, architecture and modern development practices.
• Commitment to code quality, testing and maintainability.
• Experience managing application and integration security considerations, including secure development practices.
• Experience delivering and supporting complex system integrations.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development practices.
• Experience working with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to independently own and deliver complex features and initiatives.
• Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting less experienced engineers.
• Experience working within digital media, publishing or subscription-based businesses.
• Experience working with enterprise CMS platforms or headless CMS solutions.
• Experience developing backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience contributing to technical strategy and architectural decision-making.
• Experience with cloud-native applications and services.
• Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with analytics, personalisation, audience engagement or subscription platforms.
• Content & Publishing: CMS Platforms, Headless CMS Architectures, Content APIs, Publishing Workflows
• DevOps & Quality: Git, CI/CD Pipelines, Docker, Monitoring and Observability
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or similar
• Cloud: AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP
• Testing: Jest, React Testing Library, Detox or similar frameworks

Responsibilities

• Own features throughout their lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Build scalable, maintainable and reusable frontend architectures and components.
• Collaborate with Product, Editorial, Commercial and Design teams to deliver high-quality customer experiences.
• Integrate frontend applications with CMS platforms, content APIs and other business-critical systems.
• Champion engineering excellence through clean code, testing, code reviews and continuous improvement practices.
• Drive improvements in application performance, accessibility, reliability and security.
• Ensure security best practices are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Contribute to integration architecture and the successful delivery of platform and third-party integrations.
• Mentor and support less experienced engineers through coaching, pairing and constructive feedback.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in operational support when required.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, development tooling and engineering best practices
