Job summary

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced Food Technologist for a leading Irish food and retail company in Cork. You will support new product development, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold top product quality and safety across a diverse portfolio.

Key responsibilities include managing supplier specs, overseeing labelling and packaging, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver commercially viable, high-quality products.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, quality or technical roles.
• Experience managing retailer specifications using computerised systems.
• Strong knowledge of food legislation, labeling and packaging compliance.
• Understanding of HACCP, BRC standards and allergen management.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with suppliers to ensure products meet quality and packaging specifications.
• Manage and maintain online product specifications and approvals.
• Ensure compliance with food legislation, internal policies and standards.
• Support new product development through stage-gate processes.
• Review and approve product labeling, packaging artwork and specifications.
• Collaborate with sourcing to assess and approve suppliers.
• Conduct benchmarking and identify opportunities for quality improvement.
• Support sustainable packaging initiatives and product innovation.
• Liaise with quality teams regarding supplier audits and technical issues.
• Work cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, commercially viable products.
