Job summary

Tipperary County Council is seeking a Senior Executive Engineer to lead engineering teams and provide technical and managerial support across local authority service areas.

The role includes managing and delivering a range of capital projects, supervising staff, controlling budgets, ensuring health and safety, and liaising with councillors, communities, and external agencies to implement local policy decisions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, control and manage engineering/ancillary services, including preparation and management of work programmes.
• Identify infrastructural needs and oversee design and delivery of projects, including procurement/management of consultants and contractors.
• Manage programme deliverables of in-house teams and consultants.
• Supervise staff performance and development.
• Manage budgets for capital works and service delivery within a budgetary framework.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and Council safety systems.
• Handle representations from elected members and community groups.
• Represent the Council at meetings with stakeholders.
• Prepare reports for meetings and liaise with other authorities and agencies.
• Work with senior management on strategies to improve service delivery efficiency.
• Carry out other duties as required.
