Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge and skills in intensive care unit clinical practice.
  • Proficient in using all of the equipment needed to manage and care for critically sick patients in the intensive care unit, and able to show and explain how to use it to less experienced staff members.
  • Observe the professional standards established by the NMBI Code of Conduct for Nurses.
  • Follow hospital policies when doing any nursing activity, including administering, controlling, and caring for medications.
  • Encourage a learning atmosphere for employees' benefit.
  • Help less seasoned employees develop their nursing abilities.
  • CNM 2, CNM 3, Clinical Facilitator, Senior Staff Support
  • Engages in the continuous application and practice of clinical risk management and clinical governance, particularly in the intensive care unit.

Requirements
  • The importance of NMBI Registered General Nurse Registration
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a necessary postgraduate degree in critical care, and it is preferred.
  • A preceptorship Desired ACLS Essential
  • Five years or more of cardiothoracic or surgical intensive care unit experience, together with proof of a beneficial impact on critical care
  • Preceptor for a student enrolled in an adult critical care course
