Job summary

European Tech Recruit is partnering with a global tech company in Cork to recruit a Senior Software Engineer for the Core Platform Services team. The role focuses on low-level software, Linux kernel development, and driver design across Mobile, Automotive, and XR sectors.

You'll design, prototype and lead core platform services, contribute to kernel driver modules, and validate embedded software while collaborating with hardware, architecture and test teams in a cross-disciplinary environment.

We're partnering with a global technology company to find a Senior Software Engineer for its Core Platform Services team in Cork.

This is an opportunity to work at the foundations of advanced technology, developing the core drivers and platform services that support products across multiple technology sectors.

The Opportunity

You’ll be involved in the development, prototyping and technical leadership of core driver and service features across a broad chipset portfolio spanning Mobile, Automotive and XR.

Working closely with systems, hardware, architecture and test engineering teams, you’ll help design system-level software solutions and develop drivers for both internal and external use.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Developing core platform software: Design, develop and prototype core drivers and platform-service features.
• Working with Linux: Contribute to Linux kernel functionality and architecture, particularly driver modules.
• Leading technical development: Take ownership of significant driver design and contribute to pan-technology projects.
• Testing and validation: Design, test and validate embedded software and driver functionality.
• Documenting engineering solutions: Produce technical documentation for internal and external consumption.
• Solving complex problems: Debug and resolve challenging issues within Linux kernel environments.
• Collaborating across teams: Work with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers and other technical groups.

The Technical Foundation

We’re looking for engineers with strong low-level software experience and a solid understanding of Linux kernel development.
