Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer for a well-established Irish technology and manufacturing organisation. The role focuses on hands-on development across electronics hardware, embedded firmware, PCB design, testing and early-stage technology development.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team across hardware, firmware, software and product development to create manufacturable, high-quality electronic products and ensure compliance and quality throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

Degree in Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related discipline.
5+ years' experience developing embedded electronic products.
Hands-on experience across electronics hardware and embedded firmware.
Experience with schematic capture and PCB design.
Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems and measurement.
Experience interfacing hardware and software using protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART or CAN.
Experience in C/C++ and/or Python.
Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design tools.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development and troubleshooting of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
Develop and review schematics and PCB designs, supporting prototype build and hardware bring-up.
Develop embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
Design hardware/software interfaces using I2C, SPI, UART and CAN.
Develop and improve electronic test methods, fixtures and measurement approaches.
Use laboratory instrumentation to diagnose complex hardware and system-level issues.
Investigate emerging technologies and assess their technical feasibility.
Collaborate with R&D and product teams to translate findings into product solutions.
Document investigations, test results and research outcomes.
Support product compliance, quality and safety throughout development.
