Job summary

EDC based in Dublin seeks an experienced Electrical Design Lead to drive and mentor engineers, delivering comprehensive electrical design packages from concept through construction. You will lead multiple projects, ensure quality and programme adherence, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and liaise with clients to resolve technical issues.

• Minimum Degree level in Electrical Engineering.
• 6+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
• Proven experience delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle.
• Chartership desirable.
• Thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of electrical engineering.

• Lead change and mentor engineers within the team
• Lead and manage full Electrical Design on projects of all sizes
• Deliver Electrical Engineering design packages across all project stages
• Undertake Electrical design work from concept through construction
• Deliver defined engineering packages, ensuring quality, programme adherence, and coordination
• Coordinate design activities within multidisciplinary project teams
• Resolve technical challenges of moderate complexity
• Identify and communicate technical risks and issues to the project lead
• Maintain quality control of own work and contribute to consistency across project outputs
• Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior engineers
• Support planning and organisation of work
• Assist BIM and modelling teams with coordinated 3D models and detailed engineering drawings
• Attend design meetings, workshops, and site visits
• Engage with clients and stakeholders on technical matters
• Collaborate with internal teams and across disciplines
• Support implementation of new systems, tools, and processes
• Maintain and promote EDC’s professional reputation
• Collaborate with colleagues across EDC offices
• Continue developing technical capability and broader project understanding
• Follow EDC’s Environmental Management System and support environmental and sustainability objectives

Requirements

• Minimum Degree level in Electrical Engineering
• 6+ years Building Services Consultancy Design experience
• Proven experience in delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle
• Expert user of Amtech, Relux/Dialux
• BIM experience will be advantageous
• Chartership Desirable
• Thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of electrical engineering
• Strong understanding of other disciplines offered by the company
• Expert knowledge and experience in Lighting & Emergency Lighting, Small Power and Data, Fire alarms, CCTV & Intruder Alarms, MV/LV Power Distribution, Containment and BMS
• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritise and plan work
• Good understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildings
• Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performance
• Leadership qualities while working as part of a team
• Ability to make prompt, disciplined project decisions
• Commercial awareness
