Job summary

Amazon CloudFront is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our Routing Dataplane team in Dublin, Ireland. You will design high-performance networking systems for the edge network and contribute to global scale delivery.

The role focuses on TCP/IP stack tuning, DDoS protection, and Anycast routing, with opportunities to drive architectural decisions and work across AWS teams to optimize latency, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

Experience in professional software development.
Experience designing or architecting scalable systems.
Experience programming in at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

Design and build high-performance networking systems for the CloudFront edge network.
Develop and optimize layer 4 packet processing pipelines for ultra-low latency.
Enhance TCP/IP stack behavior for performance, congestion control, and resilience at scale.
Build systems for real-time DDoS detection, mitigation, and traffic shaping.
Design and evolve Anycast routing strategies to improve global traffic distribution.
Own critical dataplane services end-to-end: design, implementation, deployment, and operations.
Analyze large-scale network telemetry to identify performance bottlenecks and failure modes.
Drive operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and rapid incident response.
Contribute to architectural decisions that influence global traffic engineering strategies.
