Brady Shipman Martin seeks an ambitious and experienced ecologist to bring field and technical expertise to a progressive multi-disciplinary team and influence the design and delivery of projects across sectors.

You will collaborate with planners, landscape architects, urban designers and engineers in sustainable development delivery, with significant growth opportunities and a strong emphasis on quality and client outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in ecology and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
  • Chartered status (CEcol) or Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status sought.
  • Minimum five years' consultancy ecologist experience including EIA/AA work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field surveys, habitat and species assessment, and data collection.
  • Prepare scoping, timelines, budgets, and coordinate teams and sub-consultants.
  • Draft, edit environmental and technical reports for clients and agencies.
  • Present findings to clients, statutory agencies and the public as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with planners, landscape architects, engineers and other professionals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ecological practice and legislation.

You are a practical, creative and solution-focused ecologist who enjoys engaging with complex issues.

You will collaborate with planners, landscape architects, urban designers, engineers and other professionals in the delivery of sustainable development.

You will have
  • A recognised post-graduate degree in ecology, and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management(CIEEM). You will be chartered, or working towards Chartered Ecologist (CEcol) or Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status.
  • A minimum of five years' varied experience in a consultancy role as an ecologist, including Ecological Impact Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment.
  • Strong field survey skills, ideally with a specialism in bat or bird survey.
  • A strong understanding of relevant Irish and European policy, legislation and case law.
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience.
  • Excellent report writing, analytical, presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • An ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Duties

To work constructively and enthusiastically as a professional Senior Ecologist within our Environmental team:

  • Work effectively in a team environment and/or independently, and contribute to a multi-disciplinary office environment.
  • Undertake field survey work, including habitat classification and species survey.
  • Project development, including project administration, programmes and budgets, and providing assistance or direction as required to other staff and sub-consultants.
  • Prepare project scoping, timelines and delivery schedules as required.
  • Draft and edit written and graphic environmental and technical reports and other communications.
  • Present information to clients, statutory agencies and the public as appropriate.
  • Liaise with contractors, site agents and sub-consultants in the day-to-day delivery of projects.
  • Ensure high quality professional services to clients.
  • Exercise sound and independent judgment in managing projects and in dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
  • Travel to sites and meetings as required.
  • Maintain and promote excellent networking, communication, presentation, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ecological and environmental practice, principles and techniques, and of planning and related legislation.
  • Engage with the day-to-day operations of the Practice, and cooperate with its policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Partners and staff in identifying business development opportunities, suitable tenders and project opportunities, and pursuing new business in line with Practice strategy.
  • Reinforce and develop the existing client network and seek to extend that network.
  • Carry out other duties as may reasonably be requestedby the Partnership.
