Job summary

Engage People Recruitment is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a Dublin-based financial services client. This hybrid role centers on owning end-to-end data pipelines for regulatory reporting, platform upgrades, and CRR3 delivery.

You will primarily work with SQL across Teradata, Oracle, and SQL Server, plus Python for automation and data quality checks. Collaboration with risk, finance, and compliance teams is essential to translate requirements into robust technical specs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering or ETL/data platform roles, preferably in financial services/regulatory environments.
• Expert SQL across Teradata, Oracle, and SQL Server; able to write complex queries and optimize performance.
• Strong Python skills for data work and automation (pandas, PySpark or similar).
• Hands-on experience with Teradata GCFR for bulk loads/unloads and tuning.
• Solid Git habits: branching, reviews, and team collaboration.
• Experience delivering regulatory reporting (CRR3, COREP, FINREP, IFRS 9, or similar).
• Knowledge of data modelling, dimensional modelling, and data warehouse concepts.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Control-M, ADF) and job scheduling.
• Excellent communication to translate reporting requirements to technical specs.

Responsibilities

The Role

A large financial services firm in Dublin is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to work on a variety of initiatives: regulatory reporting, new product launches, and platform upgrades. You will be jumping into a multi-project environment, owning pipelines end-to-end, and working closely with business, risk, and compliance folks to get the data right.

What You'll Be Doing

• Building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT flows for regulatory reporting and product work.
• Taking a lead role on the CRR3 reporting programme - think data accuracy, lineage, and making sure everything stands up to regulator scrutiny.
• Writing heavy-duty SQL across Teradata, Oracle, and SQL Server - pulling, transforming, and validating data from multiple systems.
• Coding in Python for automation, data quality checks, and pipeline orchestration.
• Using Git properly: version control, code reviews, and plugging into CI/CD.
• Working with Teradata GCFR for high-volume data loads and extracts.
• Teaming up with analysts, risk, finance, and compliance to turn reporting requirements into solid technical specs.
• Putting in place data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting so critical data doesn’t break silently.

What You Bring

• 5+ years in data engineering / ETL / data platform roles - banking, financial services, or other regulated sectors is a big plus.
• Expert SQL across Teradata, Oracle, and/or SQL Server - you know how to write complex queries and make them run fast.
• Strong Python skills for data work (pandas, PySpark, or similar) and building automation.
• Real hands-on experience with Teradata GCFR for bulk loads/unloads and performance tuning.
• Solid Git habits: branching, reviews, and working in a team codebase.
• Experience delivering regulatory reporting (CRR3, COREP, FINREP, IFRS 9, or similar) is highly desirable.
• Good grasp of data modelling, dimensional modelling, and data warehouse concepts.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Control-M, ADF, etc.) and job scheduling.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills - you can talk to non-tech stakeholders without breaking a sweat.
• A degree in CS, Engineering, Maths, or similar (or equivalent real-world experience).
