Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Data Center Power Protection Controls Engineer in Dublin. You will shape data center power protection architectures and lead protection scheme testing, combining traditional power engineering with carbon-free storage tech.

Role blends engineering analysis with hands-on field execution, reporting to the Data Center Engineering team. You will drive improvements for 24x7 operations, mentor teammates, and ensure compliance with codes and standards while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in protection and control engineering.
• 5 years of experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing using RTDS, OPAL-RT, or similar platforms.
• Experience with mission critical systems (24x7 and no-fail).
• Experience on data centers, power generation, refinery, or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Define data center system-level architecture and R&D for systems/processes.
• Conduct engineering analysis and design methods for data center equipment/facilities.
• Ensure designs meet cooling, structural and operational requirements.
• Investigate and integrate renewable power and carbon-free storage technologies.
• Lead execution and field testing teams for power system protection schemes.
