Job summary

Bretland is seeking an experienced site manager to lead day-to-day site operations in Ireland. You will oversee site staff and subcontractors, enforce health and safety procedures, and manage the construction programme from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification with 5–7 years in a similar role, strong leadership, exceptional communication, and solid IT skills (Word, Excel, MS Project) to drive efficiency and quality. This role is on-site and hands-on.

Qualifications

• Engineering or construction qualification required.
• 5-7 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong team management experience and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Must have strong knowledge of building detail and construction technology.
• Excellent written, oral communication and time management skills.
• Strong IT skills with Word, Excel, MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Manage site staff and subcontractors to ensure works progress as planned.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are implemented.
• Establish and monitor the construction programme.
• Check drawings and specifications; communicate errors to design team promptly.
• Review designs for buildability and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality.
• Coordinate timely information flow from design team; prepare schedules and RFIs as needed.
• Coordinate long-lead materials and subcontract packages.
• Collaborate with contracts manager to meet business objectives and project strategies.
• Work with project QS to manage finances and strive to exceed budget targets.
• Monitor construction quality of workmanship and materials.
• Maintain cost effectiveness through efficient resource use.
• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building regulations and good practice.
• Establish project resource requirements and lead the project team.
• Ensure compliance with local statutory obligations.
• Provide weekly/monthly progress reports to management.
