Job summary

NNIT A/S in Ireland is seeking an experienced Senior Automation / OT Consultant to support Life Sciences clients across Ireland and Europe. This client-facing role leads technical solutions, delivers complex automation projects, and acts as a trusted advisor in modern industrial systems design and implementation.

You will mentor engineers, shape high-value digitalisation initiatives, and ensure GxP, CSV validation, and data integrity across projects while traveling to meet client requirements.

Qualifications

• GxP environments and CSV validation exposure.
• Regulatory and compliance requirements knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of OT systems (SCADA, Batch, OEE, Historian).
• Define architectures, preferably with Ignition, and act as technical lead.
• Drive integration across Level 2 / MES / enterprise systems.
• Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions for clients.
• Contribute to commercial aspects, estimations, and RFI/RFPs.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices; ensure data integrity and validation compliance.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Automation / OT Consultant to join our expanding team, supporting leading Life Sciences clients across Ireland and Europe.

This is a client-facing consultancy role where you will take ownership of technical solutions, lead delivery on complex automation projects, and act as a trusted advisor in the design and implementation of modern industrial systems.
You will play a key role in shaping high-value solutions across a variety of digitalisation initiatives, while mentoring engineers and driving best practices across projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of SCADA, Batch, OEE, and Historian systems
• Define and implement architectures, ideally leveraging the Ignition platform
• Act as a technical lead on client engagements, ensuring high-quality delivery and alignment with requirements
• Drive integration of automation systems across Level 2 / MES / enterprise systems
• Collaborate with clients to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Contribute to commercial aspects of projects, estimation, RFI/RFP development
• Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and reusable standards
• Ensure compliance with GxP, validation (CSV), and data integrity requirements

Technical Expertise

• Strong controls background across PLC, HMI/ SCADA and middleware systems
• Proven experience developing and deploying OT solutions across a variety of platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, Aveva)
• Deep understanding of industrial protocols (OPC DA/UA) and system integration
• Experience with modern OT/IT technologies, including MQTT, Kafka, or similar (desirable)
• Experience integrating with MES systems and manufacturing processes

Software Development Skills

Proficiency in Python scripting for industrial applications
Experience with C#, .NET, or Java development environments
Strong understanding of software design, code quality, and maintainability

Industry Experience

• Proven experience within the Life Sciences / Pharma / Biotech sector
• Strong understanding of:
  GxP environments
  Validation processes (CSV / IQ / OQ / PQ)
  Regulatory and compliance requirements

Leadership & Consultancy Skills

• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or project workstreams
• Strong communications management and client engagement skills to senior levels
• Ability to operate as a trusted advisor and influence technical decisions
• Experience in mentoring and promoting best practices

Ways of Working

• Experience working in Waterfall or Agile environments (Azure DevOps an advantage)
• Comfortable in onsite, client-facing roles with strong communication and documentation skills
• Flexibility to travel as required.

Location: Dublin/ Limerick/ Galway/ Sligo - onsite travel will be required to meet client requirements
