Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for a leading global biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in County Dublin. You will support and enhance manufacturing automation, lead capital projects, and drive continuous improvement in a highly regulated GMP environment.

Responsibilities include designing and optimising PLC/SCADA/DCS systems, managing projects end-to-end, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or related discipline.
  • 10+ years' engineering experience with at least 5 years in biopharma.
  • Strong experience with industrial automation in regulated manufacturing.
  • Experience with Siemens, SCADA or DCS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing automation systems across the site.
  • Design, develop, modify and optimise PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems.
  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation issues and implement robust long-term solutions.
  • Support equipment upgrades, process improvements and digitalisation initiatives.
  • Develop and review automation design documentation.
  • Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Work with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Validation and Quality teams.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, data integrity and site quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement focused on reliability, performance and efficiency.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join a leading global biopharmaceutical manufacturing site. You'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing manufacturing automation systems, delivering automation projects, and driving continuous improvement across a highly regulated GMP environment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be responsible for maintaining the site's automation infrastructure while supporting new capital projects and technology improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing automation systems across the site.
  • Design, develop, modify and optimise PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems.
  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
  • Troubleshoot complex automation issues and implement robust long-term solutions.
  • Support equipment upgrades, process improvements and digitalisation initiatives.
  • Develop and review automation design documentation.
  • Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification activities.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Validation and Quality teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with GMP, data integrity and site quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, performance and efficiency.
  • Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic or related Engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years' engineering experience, including at least 5 years within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong experience with industrial automation systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Siemens
  • SCADA systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within GMP manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
