Job summary

PepsiCo Little Island is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for a permanent role in Little Island, Cork. The role focuses on day-to-day automation and manufacturing support across plant operations, with emphasis on standardisation and efficiency improvements.

You will review and execute validation protocols, support capital projects, and develop URS documents for process and automation systems, while coordinating with IT operations and vendors to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with 5+ years in process control and automation.
  • Experience in Automation Validation per GAMP and cGMP.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and SCADA systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day automation and manufacturing support, focusing on streamlining and standardising systems.
  • Review, approve and execute validation protocols.
  • Support capital projects when assigned.
  • Develop and/or review URS for process and automation systems.
  • Support IT operations and maintenance as escalation point for technical issues.
  • Create and maintain operational as-built documentation for plant control systems.
  • Ensure changes do not compromise safety, environmental or quality stance through change control.
  • Re-evaluate automation environment to adopt improved technologies.
  • Assist in developing standard data structures for plant floor integration.
  • Propose modifications to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Liaise with major equipment vendors to ensure compliance.

Overview

PepsiCo Little Island are hiring a Senior Automation Engineer for a permanent position in Little Island. We are the concentrate business in PepsiCo (PGCS) working across the Beverage, Nutritionand Snacks categories to deliver concentrate for many of PepsiCo’s mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up and Pepsi. Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day automation and manufacturing support to business users throughout the sites. Focus on streamlining, standardisation and improvement of the functions of these systems in the automation of manufacturing processes.
  • Play a key role in the review, approval and execution process of validation protocols
  • Support capital projects, when assigned
  • Development and/or review of URS for process and automation systems.
  • Support IT operations and maintenance groups throughout the organization as an escalation point for technical issues and advice
  • Create and maintain operational as-built documentation for plant control system infrastructure.
  • Through the change control process ensure that changes carried out on the Automation Systems do not compromise the safety, environmental or quality stance of the plant.
  • Constantly re-evaluate the automation environment in the context of available technologies to ensure optimal efficiency and functionality through the potential adoption of improved technology solutions
  • Assists in developing standard data structures and methods to support the ongoing integration of plant floor manufacturing control systems.
  • Proposes modifications to systems, equipment, processes and operations to improve safety, increase efficiency and achieve company goals.
  • Liaise with major equipment vendors to ensure compliance to specifications (e.g. attend kick-off meetings, pre-FAT inspections, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Engineering degree qualified with minimum 5 years process control, PLC / scada, IT architecture and operations experience, with proven track record of design and delivery of high impact technology solutions
  • Experience in Automation Validation in accordance with GAMP and cGMP.
  • Experience in the development of the following would be advantageous: Allen-Bradley PLC’s, Wonderware InTouch, InSQL, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple high impact projects simultaneously
