Job summary

John Paul Construction is seeking a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) in Dublin to oversee HV/EHV switching, isolation activities, and critical network operations. You will lead fault responses and outages while ensuring strict safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across sites.

Ideal candidates hold a current SAP, extensive HV experience, and a relevant electrical engineering qualification. The role includes travel to operational sites and a company vehicle or travel allowance.

Qualifications

• Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status.
• Significant experience with HV electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety rules and network operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and carry out HV/EHV switching operations and isolations.
• Issue and manage safety documentation (Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, LOA).
• Lead fault response, commissioning, maintenance and outage activities.
• Supervise and guide operational staff and contractors with safety and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain accurate records and authorisation docs.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and carry out HV/EHV switching operations, isolations, and network activities in accordance with company safety rules and operational procedures.
• Issue and manage safety documentation, including Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, and Limitations of Access, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
• Lead fault response, commissioning, maintenance, and outage activities to support the safe and reliable operation of electrical networks.
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to operational staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments, approve switching schedules and operational procedures, and maintain accurate operational records and authorisation documentation.

Requirements

• Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) a
• Significant experience operating and maintaining HV electrical systems
• Strong understanding of electrical safety rules and network operations.
• Experience in commissioning, maintenance, fault response, and outage management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Relevant electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel to operational sites as required.
