Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment is seeking a Security Systems Technician to install, commission, service and maintain access control and security systems across diverse environments. You will diagnose hardware, software, and network issues, perform upgrades, and provide remote and on-site technical support.

Qualifications

  • Experience with access control systems, gate automation, barriers, or electronic security systems.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing and connectivity.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

Responsibilities

Our client are currently recruiting for a Security Systems Technician to join a growing and well-established organisation delivering security solutions across a range of high-profile commercial, industrial, and regulated environments.

The Role
  • Install, commission, service, and maintain access control and security systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network‑related issues.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and system upgrades.
  • Provide technical support both on customer sites and remotely.
  • Work alongside project teams on new installations and upgrades.
  • Maintain service documentation and installation records.
  • Deliver a professional and customer‑focused service at all times.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working with access control systems, gate automation, barriers, or electronic security systems.
  • Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing and connectivity.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
  • Good communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with enterprise access control platforms such as Lenel, Honeywell, CCURE, Vanderbilt, or similar.
  • Experience with CCTV, intercoms, and integrated security systems.
  • Previous field service or project installation experience.
