Job summary

Allied Irish Banks is seeking a Second Line Risk Analyst within Group Financial Crime Compliance. This 2nd Line of Defence role provides AML/CFT guidance, oversight, and challenge to ensure regulatory obligations are met across risk management.

The role sits in a hybrid environment with office days and flexible work arrangements, supporting strategic transformation initiatives and embedding the Group Financial Crime Framework.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Compliance or Control functions.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging Financial Crime risks.
  • Experience interpreting legislation or AML/CFT regulation.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior management in implementing the AML/CFT framework.
  • Plan and implement AML/CFT projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor AML/CFT risks and regulatory developments.
  • Influence businesses to ensure effective AML/CFT controls.

Second Line Risk Analyst, Group Financial Crime Compliance

Location/Office Policy: This role is Hybrid - 3 days in the office (currently 2 days Molesworth Street and 1 day in Central Park)

What is the Role:
  • The AML/CFT Compliance Team is part of the Financial Crime Unit, and is a 2nd Line of Defence function.
  • The teamprovides Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) advice, guidance and support to the business and their business governance teams in relation to the practical application of money laundering and terrorist financing regulations.
  • The role holder will provide co-ordinated second line oversight, challenge, and advisory support to ensure AIB meets its statutory and regulatory obligations across AML and CFT risk management.
  • The role holder plays a key part in embedding the Group Financial Crime Framework, driving high standards of regulatory compliance, strengthening risk culture, and supporting strategic transformation initiatives.
Key accountabilities:
  • In line with the Bank’s three lines of defence model, support the Team’s senior management in the implementation of the Bank’s AML/CFT Framework (Policy, Standards, Procedures).
  • Support the team’s senior management with the Bank’s planning and implementation of various AML/ CFT projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging AML/CFT risks, legal/regulatory developments, industry guidance, and assessing applicability to the Bank.
  • Positively influence and challenge businesses areas to ensure that adequate and effective AML/CFT Controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Identify and analyse AML/ CFT issues and concerns to determine emerging trends, provide M.I. to senior management and provide input into bespoke training material programmes written for business teams
  • Oversee the management of the Group AML/CFT Compliance mailbox and provide day to day support to the business and their business governance teams in relation to AML/ CFT queries
What you Will Bring;
  • Previous experience within a Compliance or Control function
  • Understanding of current and emerging Financial Crime risks across the banking and financial services industry
  • Previous experience in interpretation of legislation and/or knowledge of AML/CFT regulation
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and varied decision-making scenarios
  • A relevant qualification and/or professional membership (e.g. ACOI, ACAMS), is an advantage, but not obligatory.
