Job summary

The Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone is seeking a commercially minded, organized Sales, Meetings & Conference Executive to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will drive new business, handle enquiries, and coordinate engaging meetings, conferences and events from initial contact through to handover.

Working with the Sales, Meetings & Events teams and operations, you will nurture client relationships and help achieve revenue and commercial targets.

Qualifications

  • Previous hotel sales or events experience is desirable.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to convert enquiries to business.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational ability with attention to detail.

Job description

The Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone is looking for a commercially minded, organised and relationship-focused Sales, Meetings & Conference Executive to join our team.

This is a 12-month fixed-term position.

As Sales, Meetings & Conference Executive, you will help generate new business, convert enquiries and coordinate successful meetings, conferences and events at the hotel. You will manage the client journey from initial enquiry through to event handover, ensuring every detail is communicated clearly and professionally.

Working closely with the hotel’s Sales, Meetings & Events and operational teams, you will build strong client relationships while supporting the hotel’s revenue and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and professionally to sales, meeting, conference and event enquiries.
  • Convert enquiries into confirmed business while maximising revenue opportunities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with corporate clients, event organisers, local businesses and other partners.
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, contracts and event documentation accurately.
  • Conduct hotel show-arounds and confidently present the hotel’s meeting, conference and accommodation facilities.
  • Coordinate meeting and conference requirements from initial enquiry through to operational handover.
  • Ensure all event details, including room layouts, catering, accommodation and audiovisual requirements, are recorded accurately.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell bedrooms, food and beverage services, equipment and other hotel facilities.
  • Conduct proactive sales activity to generate new business and strengthen existing accounts.
  • Follow up on enquiries, provisional bookings and lost business within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain accurate client, booking and sales information within the hotel’s systems.
  • Support the delivery of sales campaigns, networking opportunities, familiarisation visits and promotional events.
  • Communicate event requirements clearly to the relevant operational departments.
  • Monitor client feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of the customer journey.
  • Support the wider Sales and Meetings & Events teams in achieving departmental and hotel revenue targets.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in hotel sales, meetings and events, conference coordination, reservations or a similar hospitality role is desirable.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence converting enquiries into confirmed business.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organisational ability with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage several enquiries and events simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • A professional, proactive and guest-focused approach.
  • Confidence communicating with corporate clients, event organisers and internal hotel teams.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Experience using hotel property-management, sales or event-management systems would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility to support occasional client appointments or events outside normal working hours when required.
