Sales & Business Development Manager

Location: Leinster-based with an all-Ireland remit (frequent travel required)

Industry: B2B – Lubricants / Related Commercial Sector

Reporting to: General Manager

Overview:

Our client, a market leader in their sector, is seeking a commercially driven Sales and Business Development Manager to lead their national sales function. This is a pivotal role focused on accelerating growth, driving new revenue streams, and building long-term strategic partnerships with key clients including AMBA, Nissan Ireland, Fane Valley, and Dunnes Stores.

As a senior commercial leader, you’ll shape market strategies, develop high-value partnerships, and lead a dynamic sales team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong execution mindset and the ability to translate market insights into profitable action.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop the sales team to achieve commercial goals and KPIs.
  • Conduct weekly task reviews and one-to-one performance meetings with Regional Managers.
  • Manage direct reports and oversee any third-party agencies aligned to business development.
  • Contribute to commercial planning, forecasting, and budgeting at senior level.

Growth & Partnerships

  • Drive commercial strategy to deliver sales growth and expand market presence.
  • Identify and secure new commercial channels and strategic partnerships.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key accounts, holding full P&L responsibility.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements to ensure sustainable, profitable returns.
  • Broaden the range of products and services in response to customer needs and market demand.

Business Development

  • Lead the full tendering process, from proposal development to client presentation.
  • Develop compelling value propositions tailored to strategic sectors.
  • Proactively target and onboard new customers through solution-led sales approaches.

Commercial Strategy & Market Intelligence

  • Oversee pricing, channel strategies, and promotional planning.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends to guide commercial decision-making.
  • Analyse customer performance and adjust account priorities accordingly.

Innovation & Operational Excellence

  • Champion CRM system adoption and usage across the sales function.
  • Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Align with merchandising and sales support teams to ensure consistent market presence.

Company Engagement

  • Lead weekly sales meetings and quarterly updates to the Board.
  • Represent the company at townhalls, industry events, and trade shows.
