Overview

The Ellison Hotel, Castlebar, Co. Mayo is currently seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Restaurant Manager to join our friendly and dynamic team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee Restaurant, Bar, Events, and other operational areas as needed.
  • Support the General Manager and Heads of Departments.
  • Exceed guest expectations and collect feedback to set service benchmarks.
  • Actively participate in daily operations, promoting teamwork and a positive work ethic.
  • Lead by example with a hands-on approach, encouraging initiative and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain full knowledge of menus, wine, beverages, and cocktails, promoting suggestive selling.
  • Resolve guest complaints promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure cohesive, consistent operations to maximize productivity, profitability, and service standards.
  • Control costs, maintain budgets, and ensure accurate operational equipment management.
  • Coordinate maintenance and property management with the General Manager/Duty Managers.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and act to maintain competitiveness.
  • Assist with budgets, marketing plans, and performance targets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and practice effective stock control.
  • Roster team members fairly and cost-effectively; manage wage and labor reporting.
  • Oversee POS/Micros systems and operational checklists.
  • Manage reservations and coordinate relevant information.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef on food quality complaints.
  • Maintain professional presentation, grooming, and uniform standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Required Education, Skills And Qualifications
  • A degree or diploma in Hotel or Hospitality Management would be preferred but is not essential
  • Minimum 3 - 4 years restaurant experience within a similar position of similar size hotel.
  • Possess strong food and beverage, coffee, wine and cocktail knowledge.
  • Proven exemplary guest service and sales skills.
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol/General Manager's Certificate.
