Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks a Resident Engineer for a National Road scheme near Dundalk, Co. Louth, starting Summer 2026 for about 14 months.

The role involves site supervision, contract administration, and ongoing liaising with stakeholders and clients on roadworks projects. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 8 Civil Engineering degree, be Chartered or working toward it, and have experience in supervising civil works and administering Public Works contracts, with strong English communication and team

Qualifications

• A Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Chartered Engineer or actively pursuing this qualification is preferred.
• Relevant years of experience in civil engineering, including 2 years construction phase in supervising & administering Public Works Contracts.

Responsibilities

• Site-based supervision of construction activities and contract administration.
• Stakeholder and client liaison, reporting and inspection in coordination with Senior Resident Engineer.
• Record keeping, progress reporting and claims assessment under the Public Works forms of contract.

## Resident EngineerApply: IE.Dundalk.Quayside Business Park: Full time: Posted 3 Days Ago: R-163752### **Job Description**## OverviewWe are seeking Resident Engineer for a National Road scheme situated approximately 10km west of Dundalk, Co. Louth, from Summer 2026 for approximately 14 months.The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in roads/transport infrastructure. The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, willing to take responsibility and comfortable working with others in a team.## Your roleThe role will involve site-based supervision, contract administration, stakeholder and client liaison, reporting, monitoring and inspection of construction activities; in tandem with a Senior Resident Engineer, an Assistant Resident Engineer and a Clerk of Works/Inspector.## About you* Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.* Chartered Engineer or working towards this.* Relevant years relevant experience in the civil engineering industry, including 2 years construction phase involvement in the supervision & administration of Public Works Contract for Civil Engineering Works.* Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.* Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of Valuations, and assessment of Claims.* Experience in supervising and inspecting the construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, structures, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.* Experience in record keeping and reporting on Contractor’s progress.* Ability to work within a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.* Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.* Working week of 8hrs per day, 5 days per week; with possibility of some weekend and night works (only if and when required).* A vehicle will be provided during the course of the works, so applicants must hold a full driving licence and a valid SafePass.**Personal qualities*** Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.* Flexible approach with ability to be able to multi-task and prioritise when necessary.* Positive outlook and approachable manner.* Well-motivated, able to work alone or as part of a team when required.## Rewards & benefitsExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career.
