Job summary

Signacare New Ross Nursing Home in New Ross, Co Wexford, is seeking a patient and friendly care assistant to support residents with daily activities, mealtimes and household tasks, ensuring a homely and engaging environment.

You will work under the guidance of nursing staff, promote dignity and choice, and help residents feel at home through social activities and respectful care. A permanent 30-hour contract is available with additional benefits.

Responsibilities

• Support residents with daily activities and general needs, excluding direct personal care.
• Assist with mealtimes, including preparing dining areas, serving meals and drinks, and supporting residents with eating where required under the direction of the HCA/Nurse.
• Maintain residents' rooms, including changing beds, tidying rooms and wardrobes with residents' consent.
• Assist with linen, toiletries and other household supplies.
• Support resident admissions and discharges, including recording personal belongings.
• Encourage resident engagement through activities such as conversation, games, music, dancing, walking and chair-based exercises.
• Report any accidents, incidents or concerns immediately to the Nurse in Charge.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect residents' privacy, dignity, choice and rights at all times.
• Follow all health and safety, infection control and nursing home policies and procedures.
• Work positively as part of the wider nursing home team and attend required training.
• Maintain a professional appearance and wear the correct uniform at all times.
• Help create a positive and welcoming environment where residents feel at home, with a focus on Food and Fun.
