Job summary

The Actuary in Dublin is seeking a Reserving Actuary to join its Actuarial Financial Reporting team. This hybrid role offers exposure across reserving, business planning, and legal entity support, with liaison to teams in London, Paris, the US, and India.

The successful candidate will contribute to valuation analyses, reserve assessments, and the annual business planning process, while engaging with underwriting, pricing, and finance stakeholders across the group.

Qualifications

• Qualified Actuary with non-life reserving experience.
• Knowledge of Solvency II regulations and developments.
• Proficient in using ResQ software and Excel add‑in.
• Strong planning and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication to present findings to underwriters and stakeholders.
• Commercial mindset with strong business partnering ability.

Responsibilities

• Support business partnering across different legal entity branches.
• Assist in valuation analysis, including Actual vs Expected reviews twice yearly.
• Assess methodologies and assumptions across lines of business.
• Contribute to the annual business planning process and budget targets.
• Support legal entity assessments and changes.
• Participate in special projects and process development.

Job description

Our client, a leading global insurance and reinsurance business operating across Europe and Asia, is seeking aReserving Actuary to join its Actuarial Financial Reporting team in Dublin.

This is a hybrid role based in Dublin city centre, offering broad exposure across reserving, business planning, and legal entity support. The successful candidate will work closely with actuarial teams based in London, Paris, the US, and India, as well as engaging with underwriting, pricing, claims, ceded reinsurance, and finance stakeholders.

This is a strong opportunity to join a well-established team and play a key role in reserving and financial reporting for a major international insurance group.

Key Responsibilities

• Support business partnering across different legal entity branches, including reserve and performance views
• Assist in the delivery of valuation analysis, including Actual vs Expected reviews twice yearly
• Assess and evaluate methodologies and assumptions across relevant lines of business, driving changes where appropriate
• Contribute to the annual business planning process, including setting target budget loss ratios
• Support legal entity assessments and the rationalisation of legal entity changes
• Get involved in special projects, including process development and focused investigations into new methodologies

Requirements

• Qualified Actuary with relevant experience in the non-life insurance industry, with a focus on reserving
• Knowledge of ResQ software and Excel add-in an advantage
• Knowledge of Solvency II regulations and developments
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to underwriters and senior stakeholders
• Commercial mindset with strong business partnering ability
