Job summary

University College Cork is recruiting a part-time Research Assistant to support the NorseMap project. The role focuses on archiving, describing and adding metadata to iViking app submissions and the Omeka archive, with a strong eye for detail and IT proficiency.

The position is in-person at Wandesford Quay, Cork, for 6 months, 19.5 hours per week. Garda vetting may be required; informal inquiries can be emailed to the contact below.

Qualifications

• Keen eye for detail and high IT proficiency.
• Historical knowledge of the Viking Age is desirable.
• Strong email communication with contributors is essential.
• Experience with digital archives, especially Omeka, is a plus.
• Proficiency in a second language is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with archiving, describing and adding metadata to iViking submissions.
• Work on the Omeka archive with the project team.
• Coordinate with contributors via email.
• Support data curation for six months.
