Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Director of Risk Management based in Ireland to lead the risk function for a Bitcoin-focused institutional platform.

You will oversee market, credit, liquidity, counterparty, operational, and protocol risks across digital assets and traditional markets, designing governance and scalable risk models. You will set exposure limits, approve new strategies, and own risk policies in collaboration with fund management and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree with CFA/FRM/PRM or equivalent certification.
• 10+ years in risk management at asset managers, funds, banks, trading firms, or digital asset businesses.
• Deep knowledge of Bitcoin, digital assets, and traditional markets, incl. DeFi risks.
• Strong quantitative modelling: VaR, scenario analysis, stress testing.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for risk models and data analysis.
• Experience with secured lending, repos, derivatives, etc.
• Due diligence on counterparties and DeFi protocols, incl. smart contracts and oracles.
• Operational risk controls across trade lifecycle and custody.
• Familiarity with fund docs and ISDA/CSA; regulatory/compliance.
• Governance, reporting, and board-level risk communication.
• Leadership, cross-functional collaboration, strategic ownership.
• Ability to build lean, scalable risk processes in a remote setup.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain global risk management framework across asset classes.
• Define risk appetite, exposure limits, and governance with board reporting.
• Independently approve new strategies, products, and counterparties.
• Develop quantitative models and perform VaR and stress tests.
• Conduct portfolio stress testing for crypto and traditional assets.
• Assess securities, repos, derivatives, and DeFi risks interactions.
• Monitor exposures daily and escalate emerging risks with actions.
• Lead due diligence on counterparties and DeFi protocols.
• Oversee collateral and margin requirements and risk mitigations.
• Coordinate with Legal and Compliance on regulatory requirements.
• Support new product development with risk controls.
• Drive continuous risk improvements and governance practices.
