Job summary

IRIS Software Group is seeking a Client Payroll Team Lead to guide a team of Payroll Executives in delivering accurate, compliant payrolls for a portfolio of clients. You will mentor, plan workloads, and ensure high-quality service while staying current with Irish payroll laws and reporting.

Based in Ireland or the UK with remote flexibility, you’ll join our Managed Payroll Services group, collaborating with leadership to drive improvements and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Strong Irish payroll experience, ideally in a bureau or multi-client environment.
• Previous team lead or supervisory experience, or the ability to step into leadership confidently.
• A solid understanding of Irish payroll legislation and reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
• Great communication and problem-solving skills – you know how to stay calm under pressure.
• A positive, can-do attitude and genuine care for your team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of Client Payroll Executives.
• Run regular check-ins, performance reviews, and training sessions.
• Help plan workloads, schedule payrolls, and maintain high accuracy and productivity.
• Approve timesheets, leave, and other team administration.
• Oversee payroll processing for a portfolio of clients.
• Ensure payrolls meet all legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
• Review and improve existing processes, introducing smarter and more efficient ways of working.
• Support automation and system updates to keep things running smoothly.
• Be a trusted point of contact for clients – approachable, knowledgeable, and dependable.
• Help the team manage client queries quickly and effectively.
• Support the onboarding of new clients and make sure service expectations are clear.
• Monitor feedback and work with your team to maintain excellent client satisfaction.
• Process and review payrolls to stay sharp on systems and compliance.
• Keep up to date with Irish payroll legislation, best practices, and reporting standards.
