Job summary

Hilo by Aktiia is seeking a Financial Controller to own the integrity of financial records, close across multiple entities, and drive scalable controls. You will supervise a two-person team, manage VAT/tax compliance, and partner with FP&A, operations, sales, growth, and auditors across jurisdictions.

In this hands-on, international role you will champion automation and AI to streamline closing, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen internal controls while enabling rapid, compliant growth

Qualifications

• 5+ years in accounting, audit (Big 4), financial controlling or a similar Finance role, ideally in an international environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Hands-on experience owning or coordinating monthly and annual financial closings.
• Experience with multiple legal entities and intercompany accounting.
• Strong understanding of financial controls (incl Sox) and audit requirements.
• Experience with ERP systems and large financial data analysis in Excel/Google Sheets.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Interest in using AI, automation to improve Finance processes and reduce manual work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closing across the Group.
• Coordinate accounting across multiple entities and jurisdictions; ensure timely reporting.
• Supervise day-to-day accounting activities of a small team (revenue, COGS, payroll, accruals, fixed assets).
• Review journal entries, reconciliations and balance sheet items; resolve outstanding items.
• Maintain closing calendar, controls, cut-off, and accounting treatments across entities.
• Improve speed, quality, and reliability of the close.
• Act as Finance contact for audits and external reviews.
• Partner with FP&A to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
