Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ireland Limited is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join the Transformers Service team in Ireland, with responsibilities spanning installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair and technical support for power and distribution transformers. You will work with utility, industrial, renewable energy and data centre customers to maximise asset performance and support the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician, Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineer with experience working on power systems, transformers or electrical infrastructure.
• Experience with power transformers, distribution transformers, transformer accessories or high-voltage equipment.
• Strong understanding of transformer testing, commissioning, maintenance and diagnostic techniques.
• Experience fault finding, troubleshooting and repair in utility, industrial or renewable energy environments.
• Familiarity with transformer protection systems, cooling, bushings and tap changers is advantageous.
• Experience using CMMS and digital service tools.

Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, commissioning, testing and energisation activities on transformers across customer sites.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, inspections and condition assessments.
• Conduct transformer diagnostics, fault finding and root cause analysis on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Support transformer oil sampling, testing, treatment and monitoring activities.
• Execute transformer repairs, upgrades and retrofit projects safely and on schedule.
• Prepare and review service reports and technical records for customers.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations on transformer operation and maintenance.
