Job summary

CoAction West Cork is seeking Relief Social Care Workers to support day and residential services in the Castletownbere area. You will take responsibility for day-to-day activities in group homes, assisting the social care leader with health and safety, program implementation, personal care plans and staff support.

Essential qualifications include recognised social care qualifications and driving licence, with experience in residential settings and HIQA knowledge.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification with a third-level supervised practice element.
• Alternative recognised professional qualification for Social Care as listed in the post.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a welcoming, caring environment in the Group Home with high standards of care.
• Treat residents with dignity and respect at all times.
• Attend to physical and emotional needs of service users.
• Encourage group participation in daily activities (cleaning, budgeting, cooking, shopping).
• Provide a program of stimulating activities and assist residents in developing hobbies.
• Escort and assist on group outings.
• Ensure no abuse or bullying; report incidents per policy.
• Maintain records to a high standard; ensure confidentiality.
• Lead induction and training for residential staff; supervise staff.
• Contribute to the overall development of CoAction and its services.
