Job summary

CoAction West Cork in Castletownbere is seeking Relief Social Care Workers to support day-to-day activities in the Group Home within Day & Residential Services. You will help provide a home-from-home environment, promoting dignity, safety and person-centred care, while assisting with program planning, personal care, and family liaison.

The role requires a recognised Social Care qualification or equivalent, strong communication and leadership skills, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• minimum 12 months experience in a residential setting with Children with an intellectual disability
• Good working knowledge HIQA
• Supervisory experience
• Budgetary experience
• Intimate Care/personal care
• Record keeping

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a welcoming, caring and supportive environment in the Group Home with high standard of care
• Treat residents with dignity and respect at all times
• Attend to physical and emotional needs of service users
• Encourage group participation in day-to-day house activities (cleaning, budgeting, cooking)
• Assist residents in developing recreational activities and hobbies
• Escort and assist on group outings arranged
• Ensure safety, report accidents/incidents per policy
• Deliver induction and training to residential staff as needed
• Maintain records in the house to a high standard
• Maintain confidentiality and liaise with families and professionals
