Role Overview

We are seeking a flexible, experienced, and highly motivatedRelief Chef / Trainerto support our kitchen teams across Mac’s Place Delis and Bakeries. This hands-on role involves providing chef cover during periods of leave or peak demand and delivering on-site training to kitchen staff to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide chef cover across various Mac’s Place sites as required (planned leave, sickness, etc.)
  • Prepare and serve high-quality food in line with Mac’s Place recipes and presentation standards.
  • Deliver on-the-job training to new and existing staff, including:
  • Recipe preparation and kitchen systems
  • Food safety, HACCP, and hygiene procedures
  • Equipment usage and kitchen cleaning protocols
  • Assist in the rollout of new menus, products, or processes across locations.
  • Support auditing and compliance standards, ensuring all practices meet Plaza Group and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide feedback to management on training needs, staffing gaps, and operational issues.
  • Promote a positive kitchen culture with a focus on teamwork, communication, and efficiency.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a chef or kitchen supervisor role.
  • Proven experience in training or mentoring kitchen staff.
  • Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel between sites.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Formal culinary or trainer qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Irish food service and hospitality standards.
