Job summary

Enable Ireland in North Tipperary is seeking Relief Adult Support Workers to join the North Tipperary Adult Services team in Nenagh and Thurles. The role provides personalised supports within the adult day service and the community, helping with daily living, mobility and inclusion.

Applicants should have QQI Level 5 in Care Skills (with special needs), at least one year’s experience with adults with disabilities, and a valid full driving licence.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Care Skills including a module on special needs.
• Minimum of one year's experience with adults with disabilities.
• Full clean driver's licence and willingness to drive Enable Ireland vehicles.
• Must be eligible to work in the state.
• Effective communication and good recording practices.
• Knowledge of social model of disability.
• Understanding of Adult Protection and Lone working.
• Experience in day service and community settings.
• Knowledge of person-centered planning and Key Worker system.
• Knowledge of New Directions guidelines.

We are currently seeking highly-motivated Relief Adult Support Workers to join our North Tipperary Adult Services team in the following locations:

• Nenagh
• Thurles

Contract Type: Variable Hours

Salary Scale; €35,771 - €43,288 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI’s (Long Service Increments)

Overview of the Post:

The role of the Adult Support Worker is to work as part of a team within the adult day service, the service owners own home, providing personalised supports. This will include assisting to personal care needs, mobility, and supporting access to services in their community and on our virtual day service. The post holder will encourage and support opportunities to help develop a range of options for service owners in areas of training, employment and greater inclusion in their local communities.

The successful candidate will have

• QQI Level 5 in Care Skills to include a module on special needs (total 8 modules) or equivalent qualification
• Minimum of one years’ experience working with adults with disabilities
• To hold a full clean drivers licence with no restrictions and be willing to drive Enable Ireland vehicles
• Must be eligible to work in the state
• Effective communication skills and good recording practices
• Knowledge of social model of disability.
• Good understanding of Adult Protection and Lone working.
• Experience of working with adults in a day service setting.
• Experience of working in community setting.
• Knowledge of person centered planning and Key Worker system
• Knowledge of New Directions guidelines
