Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture Freestyle blood glucose test strips and Freestyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the Freestyle Precision, Freestyle Lite and Freestyle Libre systems.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

You will be working with cross functional teams, ensuring our PMs and corrective maintenance are effective and efficient. You will monitor, implement and maintain processes that help increase productivity.

You will be an excellent communicator with all levels of the organisation and be able to work with a diverse set of individuals and teams. You have experiencing in working within a regulated environments and can work independently.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Maximo system administrator to develop and manage KPIs and metrics related to engineering services and production performance, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • Monitor, report, and act on KPI results in partnership with the Engineering Process Area, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Track and analyse recurring and critical equipment failures, leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) initiatives using appropriate methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis, Event Tree Analysis, and Kepner-Tregoe.
  • Facilitate cross-functional reviews of equipment failure impacts with relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform predictive analysis using data from Maximo and other systems to anticipate failures and optimize preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Review and support preventive maintenance (PM) and demand maintenance activities to ensure effectiveness and alignment with reliability goals.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance procedures and best practices to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Create and monitor life cycle asset management plans to maximize equipment longevity and performance.
  • Lead and support activities within the Reliability Roadmap, driving initiatives in Predictive Maintenance, including vibration analysis, thermographic imaging, data processing, digitalization, and machine learning applications to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Engage with technicians, engineers, and the training department to support the development of training programs for new equipment and reliability practices.
  • Provide technical support to engineers and technicians on production equipment, troubleshooting complex issues and recommending sustainable solutions.
  • Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and develop targeted improvement plans to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Serve as an internal consultant, advising teams on complex processes and procedures, supported by detailed analysis and cost-effective recommendations.
  • Perform other related tasks as required to support the reliability and performance of manufacturing operations.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Efficiently use Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint essential)
  • Level 8 (honours degree) in engineering or related, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Maximo and Cognos a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with tools like RCM, RCA, FMECA, Weibull Analysis, and Data Digitalisation a distinct advantage.
  • Maintenance/ reliability experience essential (5+ years)
