Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Shankill in Dublin is seeking Staff Nurses to provide compassionate dementia care. The successful candidates must be registered with NMBI (General/Psychiatric) and have three years of nursing experience in Ireland’s healthcare system, with current experience in elderly/dementia care.

Responsibilities include delivering holistic care within policies, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and upholding resident dignity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Current registration on the General/Psychiatric division of the register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
• Three years of experience in a nursing role in Ireland's Healthcare System
• Current experience in the care of the elderly and people living with dementia
• Demonstrate excellent communication (verbal and written), organisational skills, flexibility and commitment
• A post-graduate diploma in gerontology or dementia is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized residents care within the agreed nursing model
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the coordination and delivery of residents care
• Be an advocate for the individual residents and for his/her family/named representative
• Ensure care is carried out in an empathetic and ethical manner
• Maintain current records and reports regarding residents care in line with guidelines and legal requirements
• Ensure safe administration and storage of medicines according to best practice
• Participate in innovation and change in care delivery and service planning
