Job summary

Limerick Race Company PLC invites applications for the Racing Manager role at Limerick Racecourse. The position reports to the Chairman and leads raceday operations, facility management and industry relations to drive guest experience and revenue.

The successful candidate will have 10+ years in horse racing and racecourse operations, strong people skills, and proven stakeholder management in a customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of horse racing and racecourse operations.
  • Good communication and team collaboration abilities.
  • Proven success delivering customer-centric commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent at managing multiple internal & external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee raceday operations and enhance spectator and guest experience.
  • Oversee racing facilities including track, stables, parade ring, weigh-room and grandstand; develop facility plans.
  • Manage relationships with owners, trainers, jockeys and industry bodies.
  • Monitor health, safety and regulatory compliance across the venue.

Job description

Limerick Racecourse opened its doors in October 2001 as the first new Turf Track in Ireland since 1951. The development now hosts 18 days National Hunt and Flat Racing throughout the year and includes a range of commercial and diverse Non-Racing activities on its 220-acre site.

The Board of Limerick Race Company PLC is now seeking to recruit a Racing Manager.

Reporting to the Chairman of Limerick Race Company, the role will oversee:

  • Raceday Management: Oversee all raceday operations and develop plans to continue to enhance the spectator and guest experience and work with colleagues to increase revenue and profitability.
  • Racing Facilities: Responsible for all racing facilities and infrastructure including the track, stables, parade ring, weigh-room and grandstand. Work with colleagues to develop facility enhancement plans.
  • Industry Relations: Manage relationships with owners, trainers, jockeys, and all industry groups and bodies.
  • Compliance and Safety: Monitor and ensure full health, safety, and regulatory compliance.

We are looking for:

  • Industry Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience of horse racing and racecourse operations.
  • People Skills: Effective communication and team collaboration abilities.
  • Commercial Skills: Proven success in delivery in a customer centric environment.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent at managing multiple requirements from both internal & external stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualification: An equine-related qualification is a distinct advantage.

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary and a performance-related bonus.
