Job summary

Mater Private Network Cork is recruiting a Quality Improvement Co-ordinator to join the Quality & Safety Department on a permanent, full-time, on-site basis. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating quality improvement structures to enhance patient care, safety, and experience.

You will work with clinical and non-clinical teams to drive continuous improvement, facilitate change initiatives, and embed lasting benefits across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years working in a Quality/Healthcare environment.
• Nursing/clinical experience is highly desirable.
• Advanced Excel and Power BI skills are required.
• Strong data analysis capabilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of quality frameworks and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support development, coordination, and delivery of hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives (JCI, HIQA).
• Lead and facilitate quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
• Collect, analyse, and validate data (readmissions, infection rates, falls, LOS, patient satisfaction).
• Assist staff in audits and improvement initiatives using PDSA, Lean, or Six Sigma.
• Analyse data to identify improvement opportunities and support evidence-based decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to test and sustain improvements.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report the effectiveness of initiatives.
• Provide guidance and education on quality improvement methodologies.
• Assist in accreditation preparation and regulatory inspections.
• Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
• Deliver monthly quality update communications.
• Support root cause analyses and follow-up actions.

Quality Improvement Co-ordinator

VACANCY: Quality Improvement Co-ordinator

(Permanent role / Full-time hours On Site)

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Improvement Co-ordinator to join the Quality & Safety Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Hospital's Quality, Safety, and Accreditation programmes.

The successful candidate will provide professional support in the design, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement structures and programmes across the hospital. Working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams, the Quality Improvement Co-ordinator will help drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and experience, facilitate change initiatives, and ensure that improvements are embedded and sustained to achieve lasting benefits for patients, staff, and the organisation.

This role is ideally suited to an individual with strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills who is passionate about improving healthcare quality and patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, coordination, and delivery of hospital-wide quality improvement and accreditation initiatives Joint Commission International (JCI), Health Information & Quality Information (HIQA).
• Lead and facilitate quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, safety, and experience.
• Collecting, collating, analysing and assisting with validating data and operational data (e.g., readmissions, infection rates, falls, length of stay, patient satisfaction)
• Assisting clinical and non-clinical staff in the design, implementation and collection of audits, quality improvement initiatives using PDSA, Lean, or Six Sigma methods
• Analyse data to identify opportunities for improvement and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to test, implement, and sustain measurable improvements in care processes and service delivery.

Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives.

• Provide guidance, education, and support to staff in the application of quality improvement methodologies and best practices.
• Assist in the preparation for accreditation, regulatory inspections, and quality assurance reviews.
• Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement throughout the organisation.
• Delivery of monthly Quality update communications
• Support root cause analyses of adverse events and near misses, and follow up on corrective actions

Essential Skills And Knowledge

• Minimum of 5 years working in a Quality/Healthcare Environment
• Nursing/Clinical experience highly desirable
• Excellent PC/Reporting Skills (Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, Power BI)
• Data Analysis Qualification highly desirable
• Highly numeric with a strong focus on detail
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Energetic Individual with drive and enthusiasm
