BD is hiring a Quality Engineer to join our Limerick team. You will help maintain compliance, improve quality, and support operational efficiency across supplier management, calibration systems, preventive maintenance programs, and quality system processes.

You will work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and external partners as SME for supplier management and calibration in a highly regulated environment. This role emphasizes continuous improvement and ISO 13485 alignment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Science, Quality, or related field.
  • Experience in quality, engineering, manufacturing, or regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485:2016.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain supplier quality processes per BD global procedures and approved supplier requirements.
  • Manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and supplier performance evaluations.
  • Act as site SME for calibration, preventive maintenance, and supplier management processes.
  • Coordinate calibration and preventive maintenance programmes per regulatory, global, local requirements.
  • Maintain asset records in BMRAM with data accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers for calibration and maintenance activities.
  • Support internal and external audits as SME for supplier management and calibration.
  • Track quality system activities including non-conformances, quality plans, metrics, and continuous improvement.

This includes vendor coordination, equipment calibration, routine upkeep, and quality systems activities. As our Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with BD's global quality requirements across supplier management, calibration systems, preventive maintenance programs, and quality system processes. You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and external partners to maintain robust quality processes, mitigate risks, and support internal and external audits. You will act as a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) for supplier management, calibration compliance, preventive maintenance, and associated quality records, helping to drive continuous improvement while ensuring consistency to ISO 13485 and BD Quality System requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and maintain supplier quality processes, ensuring compliance with BD global procedures and approved supplier requirements.
  • Manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL), supplier monitoring activities, and quarterly supplier performance evaluations.
  • Act as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for calibration, preventive maintenance, and supplier management processes.
  • Coordinate the calibration and preventive maintenance programmes, ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with regulatory, global, and local requirements.
  • Manage and maintain asset records within the Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Management (BMRAM) system, ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to support equipment calibration, maintenance, and performance activities.
  • Support internal and external audits, serving as the SME for supplier management, calibration, preventive maintenance, and out-of-tolerance investigations.
  • Track and manage quality system activities, including non-conformances, quality plans, compliance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Engineering, Science, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in a quality, engineering, manufacturing, or regulated industry environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485:2016
  • Experience working within Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
