Job summary

Russell Tobin in Dublin is seeking a QC Instrumentation Engineer to support and optimise laboratory instrumentation, ensuring GMP compliance and driving improvements in qualification and performance.

You will review, approve documentation, lead investigations, and collaborate with vendors to implement new tools while staying aligned with regulatory standards. The role is onsite in Dublin, with Monday–Friday business hours.

Responsibilities

• Support purchase, qualification, validation, and implementation of new laboratory instruments.
• Ensure GMP compliance, regulatory requirements and internal procedures with cross-functional teams and vendors.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage calibration, maintenance scheduling, and lifecycle activities for QC laboratory instrumentation.
• Review and approve instrument qualification, calibration, repair, and maintenance documentation.
• Lead instrument-related investigations, troubleshooting, and performance trending to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Support the purchase, qualification, validation, and implementation of new laboratory instruments.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors.

Qualifications:

• Strong experience in instrument management within a GMP environment, with a solid understanding of biopharmaceutical drug substance and drug product laboratory operations and best practices.
• Proven experience establishing project plans and instrument qualification procedures; knowledge of Data Integrity requirements (21 CFR Part 11 / EU Annex 11) is desirable.
• Strong understanding of protein biochemistry and hands‑on expertise with analytical platforms including HPLC/UPLC, CE, cIEF, SDS‑PAGE, Biacore, HIAC, KF, and Liquid Handlers.
• Minimum BSc in a scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year of instrument qualification in a GMP laboratory; technology transfer experience is advantageous.
• Excellent teamwork, leadership, communication, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
