Job summary

MSD in Ireland seeks a QC Associate Specialist (Microbiology) to lead a shift, provide technical support, and uphold cGMP standards across microbiology testing facilities. The role focuses on Bioburden, LAL, Sterility assays and environmental monitoring to support manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will coach analysts, manage on-shift issues, and ensure data integrity in LIMS while maintaining a compliant laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology QC lab with environmental monitoring.
• Experience leading and coordinating a shift-based team.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary shift lead, coordinating daily tasks and analyst workflows.
• Serve as first-line contact for weekend technical issues and escalate critical cGMP/safety issues.
• Perform microbiological testing including Bioburden, LAL, Sterility.
• Conduct on-floor coaching and mentor junior analysts.
• Maintain inspection-ready QC microbiology lab and adhere to GDP.
