Job summary

Enable Ireland in Dunshaughlin/East Meath is seeking a Staff Grade Psychologist to deliver psychology services to children and families within an interdisciplinary framework across clinics, preschools, schools and community settings.

The post involves assessment, intervention and clinical supervision, with opportunities for service development and continued professional growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma (QQI level 8) with Psychology as major and honours.
  • Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology.
  • Demonstrate competence in the Care Group(s) applied for.
  • Must be a PSI or BPS member and have driving licence for service delivery across geography.

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Staff Grade Psychologist to join our team in CH08 CDNT4 Dunshaughlin/East Meath.

Contract Type: Permanent Full Time

Contract Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary Scale: €60,342 to €105,535 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI’s (Long Service Increments)

This pay scale is subject to increases in 2026 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.

Annual Leave Entitlement: 34 days pro rata per annum

Overview of the Post:

Enable Ireland delivers children’s services through the Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) under the national Progressing Disabilities Services (PDS) model for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a range of Psychologist services for young people (0 – 18 years) and their families within an interdisciplinary framework. Service will include assessment and intervention, clinical supervision and ongoing service development. This will be delivered through a family centred approach across a variety of settings including the clinic, preschools, schools, children’s homes and community settings.

The successful candidate will have

  • Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject

And

  • Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology

Or

  • An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.

And

  • Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for.

And

  • Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note 2.

Or

  • Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Child Disability, Child Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist. Note 2.

Note 2:Combinations of supervised clinical placement experience as part of the qualification and post qualification supervised work experience within a single care group area to give a total of 60 days are not acceptable.

  • Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Valid driving licence for within the state / jurisdiction with access to own transport in order to deliver services across a large geographical area
  • Experience of working with children and/or adolescents and their families with one or more of a range of disabilities
  • Knowledge and skills in the management of behaviours of concern .
  • Knowledge and skills in conducting diagnostic assessments in children and young people including Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities .
  • Knowledge of HSE Progressing Disability Services Programme .
  • Broad knowledge of Enable Ireland Services
  • Experience of working in a disability service
  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working
