Job summary

Force Recruitment and Outsourcing is seeking an Engineering Manager (Projects) in Castlebar, Co. Mayo to lead a team of engineers in delivering major capital projects from feasibility through FAT, SAT, OQ and PQ in a highly automated, regulated life sciences setting.

You will report to the Head of Engineering and drive engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to ensure on-time, within-budget project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years' engineering experience in automated manufacturing.
• Experience leading engineering/technical teams.
• Strong project management experience with capital projects.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project is advantageous.

Engineering Manager (Projects)

Location: Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Job Type: Permanent

A leading life sciences manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their team in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

This is a high-impact leadership position reporting to the Head of Engineering, with responsibility for leading a team of engineers and overseeing the delivery of major engineering projects from initial feasibility through to FAT, SAT, OQ and PQ.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving engineering excellence, continuous improvement and capital project delivery within a highly automated and regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Leadership

• Lead engineering projects from initial concept and feasibility through to successful delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and support in the resolution of complex engineering challenges.
• Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency and innovation across the site.
• Support the development and implementation of highly automated manufacturing solutions, including robotic systems.

Project Management

• Manage multiple engineering and capital projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Manage departmental capital and overhead expenditure.
• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, suppliers and other key stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure projects meet required standards for safety, quality, compliance, cost and efficiency.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of engineers within a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Coordinate the engineering team in planning and executing complex project activities.
• Establish clear priorities, responsibilities and deliverables across the engineering function.
• Develop team members' technical capabilities, business understanding and professional skills.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, such as Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering.
• 8+ years' engineering experience within a highly automated and regulated manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience managing, supervising or leading engineering/technical teams.
• Strong project management experience, ideally involving significant capital projects.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of automated manufacturing processes and engineering systems.
• Experience with robotics or high-speed automated equipment would be advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, compliance, quality and productivity.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Project.
• Experience with engineering/design software such as AutoCAD would be advantageous.
