Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to provide support to individuals who require assistance to sustain their tenancy in the community. The service offers intensive tenancy support to mental health service users, in collaboration with the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness. A key worker system is implemented to help each individual settle into permanent, independent living, with or without additional supports.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Working with mental health service users with housing support needs.
  2. Collaborating with Community Mental Health Teams to enhance support related to housing needs.
  3. Visiting individuals in their community and homes where appropriate.
  4. Managing support packages for clients identified by CMHTs.
  5. Assisting clients with tenancy and housing issues and making referrals as needed.
  6. Supporting clients in managing tenancy-related issues.
  7. Establishing links with local services and community groups, working closely with housing providers.
  8. Responding appropriately to child protection and welfare concerns.
  9. Conducting regular reviews of clients’ wellbeing and social engagement.
  10. Adopting a client-centered approach promoting autonomy and recovery principles.
  11. Maintaining communication with the Focus Ireland Manager.
  12. Participating in supervision, team meetings, and organizational policies.
  13. Maintaining accurate records and statistics.
  14. Developing resource materials and supervising volunteers/students/support staff as needed.
  15. Participating in training, project reviews, and organizational development activities.
  16. Preparing reports and liaising with other divisions within Focus Ireland.
  17. Undertaking additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Relevant third-level qualification (e.g., social care, psychology, sociology).
  • Knowledge of services for those experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Experience working with individuals or families who have experienced homelessness.
  • Full clean driving license and own car.
  • Support experience for individuals with mental health difficulties (desirable).
  • Ability to work independently (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills (desirable).
  • Flexible and reliable (desirable).
