Job summary

Ei Electronics in Shannon, Co. Clare, Ireland, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee R&D product development from concept to production.

You will lead cross-functional teams across engineering, quality, manufacturing and supply chain, applying gate review processes to drive on-time delivery. The role requires strong leadership, structured project management skills, and knowledge of hardware, embedded firmware, cloud data communications, and regulatory compliance for life-safety

Qualifications

  • 3rd level qualification (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Engineering, Science, or Technology.
  • Formal project management qualification (e.g. PMP, Prince2) – PMP certification preferred. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a project management role, ideally in electronics product development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project teams across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain disciplines.
  • Apply structured project management practices including planning, scheduling, risk management, issue tracking, resource allocation, and budget control.
  • Use and enforce the company’s gate review process to drive project delivery and ensure stage-gate compliance.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering teams and internal manufacturing partners, including test engineering and new product introduction (NPI).
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate change control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards relevant to life safety products.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery processes and tools.

As we continue to expand, we are seeking a skilled and proactive Project Manager to lead cross-functional teams in delivering complex electronic products from concept through to production.

Role Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of multiple product development projects, managing schedules, risks, budgets, and cross-disciplinary teams to deliver on-time and within scope. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in structured project management methodologies and will use an established project management framework and gate review process to guide product development activities.

This role requires a solid understanding of the development of electronic hardware, embedded firmware, mechanical design, cloud data communications protocols, and test lab validation processes. The successful candidate will be a motivated team leader, able to coordinate technical teams and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Education

Experience
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a project management role, ideally in electronics product development.
Technical Expertise
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional product development projects using structured methodologies.
Familiarity with the following development domains is strongly desired:
  • Electronic hardware design and development
  • Embedded firmware and software
  • Cloud communication protocols and IoT data platforms
  • Laboratory validation, testing, and certification processes
Skills
  • EExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., life safety, medical, industrial controls)
  • Proficient with project management tools such as MS Project, Monday.com, Teamwork.com, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
