The role is within the technical design authority for the transmission system. Engineering and asset management is the area that facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plants to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies. In addition, the area is responsible for ensuring that requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.
