Job summary

Metric Bio is seeking a Project Manager to drive client projects from transfer through development and optimization, then transfer back to the client or GMP manufacturing. You will oversee timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and deliverables while meeting client expectations, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Lead multidisciplinary teams and act as the primary client contact, ensuring clear communication and successful delivery across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record delivering complex drug development projects.

Job description

The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of client projects from initial process transfer through process development and optimization, and ultimately through transfer back to the client or into GMP manufacturing.

The role will oversee project timelines, budgets, resources, risks and deliverables while ensuring that client expectations, regulatory requirements and quality standards are consistently met.

The Project Manager will lead multidisciplinary teams and act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication, effective coordination and successful delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Planning & Delivery
  • Lead the planning and execution of drug development and manufacturing projects from initiation through completion.
  • Establish project objectives, milestones, timelines, deliverables, resources and dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans aligned with client requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Coordinate and monitor project delivery through the organization’s project and knowledge management systems.
  • Track progress against agreed milestones, timelines and deliverables, identifying potential delays at an early stage.
  • Adjust project plans and priorities as required to maintain successful delivery.
  • Ensure effective coordination across all project activities and stakeholders.
Client & Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Establish clear expectations around scope, timelines, deliverables and responsibilities.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, decisions and key milestones.
  • Address client concerns promptly and coordinate appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure client requirements remain central to project planning and execution.
  • Support the development of long‑term client relationships and future opportunities.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams comprising scientists, engineers, CMC specialists, regulatory, quality, manufacturing and other relevant functions.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, priorities and deliverables across the project team.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple functions to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Facilitate project meetings, decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Provide leadership, direction and support to project team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable approach to project delivery.
Budget & Resource Management
  • Take responsibility for project budgets and financial performance.
  • Develop project cost estimates in collaboration with Finance, Operations and technical teams.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and identify potential variances.
  • Ensure financial risks are identified and communicated promptly.
  • Coordinate the effective allocation of personnel, facilities and technical resources.
  • Escalate significant budget or resource issues to senior management and clients where appropriate.
  • Identify risks that could affect project scope, timelines, budget or quality.
  • Develop and implement appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Maintain effective risk and issue management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the resolution of project challenges and remove barriers to delivery.
  • Escalate significant risks and issues when required.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage changes to scope, timelines and deliverables in a controlled manner.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal quality systems.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
  • Ensure deliverables meet agreed quality standards and client expectations.
  • Work closely with Quality, Regulatory and technical teams to address compliance requirements.
  • Promote a strong culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project management processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Capture lessons learned and apply them to future projects.
  • Collaborate with CMC and technical teams to develop and implement new service offerings.
  • Support the development of scalable processes and best practices as the organization grows.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from clients and internal teams to improve future project delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of solutions that address increasingly complex client requirements.
