Gaia Talent is seeking a Project Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its growing geotechnical team in Ireland. You will work across a strong pipeline of major infrastructure, transport and renewable energy projects throughout Ireland, collaborating with engineers and technical specialists.

The role offers exposure to roads, active travel, greenways, renewable energy and wider civil infrastructure, with emphasis on technical development and progression toward Chartered Engineer status.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology with MSc in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience in geotechnical design within an engineering consultancy.
  • Experience with site/ground investigations and major civil projects.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake slope stability, earthworks, retaining structure and foundation design.
  • Support peat assessment and stability work.
  • Manage and supervise site and ground investigations.
  • Coordinate technical and CAD documentation.
  • Work with civil, structural, environmental and other specialists.
  • Attend site visits and client meetings.
  • Support the delivery of projects within programme, quality and budget requirements.
  • Ensure work complies with quality and Health & Safety standards.

The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Project Geotechnical Design Engineer to join its growing geotechnical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a geotechnical professional looking to develop their design experience while working across a strong pipeline of major infrastructure, transport and renewable energy projects throughout Ireland. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and technical specialists, with exposure to projects spanning roads and highways, active travel, greenways, renewable energy and wider civil infrastructure. The company offers a collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on technical development, career progression and support towards Chartered Engineer status.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake slope stability, earthworks, retaining structure and foundation design
  • Support peat assessment and stability work
  • Manage and supervise site and ground investigations
  • Coordinate technical and CAD documentation
  • Work closely with civil, structural, environmental and other technical specialists
  • Attend site visits and client/project meetings
  • Support the delivery of projects within agreed programme, quality and budget requirements
  • Ensure work complies with relevant quality and Health & Safety standards
About You

You will ideally have:

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering, or a Geology Degree with a Master's in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Previous experience in geotechnical design, ideally within an engineering consultancy
  • Experience working on infrastructure or other major civil engineering projects
  • Knowledge of slope stability, earthworks, foundations and/or retaining structures
  • Experience with site/ground investigations
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of relevant geotechnical design software
  • Strong analytical, technical and organisational skills
  • Experience coordinating with engineers and technical specialists
  • An interest in progressing towards, or already working towards, Chartered Engineer status
  • A full driving licence and flexibility to attend sites and client meetings when required
